Funmi Fashina Foundation, in her continued efforts to spread awareness, organized an awareness walk on the 16th of November tagged “Walk for MSA”. We were joined at the National Stadium, Surulere by friends and well wishers. The walk kicked off at 10:00am, after all participants had been registered and handed a T-shirt.
The route plan was to walk from the National Stadium to Bode Thomas Road through Adeniran Ogunsanya Street and back to the Stadium via Costain. This is about 5 km in all.
Participants of the walk were escorted by officials of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) to help control traffic along the route. A patrol team from The Nigerian Police Force was also on hand to assist.
After the awareness trek, participants were encouraged to partake in the free medical screening to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, height, weight, body mass index, etc. Free counselling was also made available. This is essentially to encourage healthy living.
There was a brief update by Prof. Njideka Okubadejo on MSA and the activities of the Foundation. This was followed by light refreshment to replenish energy levels.
FFFoundation would like to use this medium to say a big thank you to everyone that came out to support us on the day. It could not have happened without you.
Our appreciation also goes to the medical team, members of press, LASTMA, the Nigeria Police Force and the Stadium management for their support.
